Delete your data

Short answerOpen Settings, go to Privacy, and click Delete all data… under Your records, then Delete everything. This permanently removes your sessions, daily summaries, away answers and bills from this Mac and your private iCloud. Your preferences are kept. Export any year you might still claim first, because this can’t be undone.

Before you delete anything

Export every year you might still claim first. The ATO asks you to keep records for 5 years from the date you lodge your return, and without them you may not be able to back up a claim if the ATO asks.

WFH Diary never deletes your records on its own, so you don’t need to do anything to keep them. See Export your tax report to save a PDF or CSV of each year.

How to delete all your data

  1. Click the WFH Diary icon in the menu bar, then the gear button to open Settings.
  2. Go to the Privacy tab.
  3. Under Your records, click Delete all data….
  4. Read the message “Delete all WFH Diary data?”, then click Delete everything. Click Cancel if you change your mind.

When it’s done, Settings shows “All tracked data deleted.”

What gets deleted, and what’s kept

Deleting removes every record WFH Diary holds, on this Mac and in your private iCloud sync.

  • Every tracked, imported and manually added session
  • Daily summaries and the days you confirmed
  • Away periods and your answers to them
  • Your bills to keep ticks and any bills you attached

Your preferences, such as your reminder time and other settings, are kept. Your WFH Diary Pro purchase isn’t affected, because it belongs to your Apple Account.

Because the deletion syncs through iCloud, your other Macs with sync on lose the records too.

Smaller changes instead

You may not need to delete everything.

  • To leave out a session, open the day on the Day screen, click Show sessions on the block, and untick the session. It stays in your records, marked as left out, but doesn’t count.
  • To mark a whole day as not worked from home, click Not at home or No work on that day.
  • To stop a Mac sharing its records, turn off Sync data across my devices in Settings, Privacy. WFH Diary needs a restart for this to take effect.
  • To stop recording for a while, pause tracking.

What WFH Diary never collects

There’s nothing about you held elsewhere to delete. WFH Diary has no account, no analytics and no third-party SDKs. It records session start and end times only, never app names, files, screen content, keystrokes or location, and your data stays on your Macs and in your private iCloud.
